SCDA Annual Meeting and MUSC Alumni Weekend
April 27 – 30, 2017

The Latin word DOCERE was first used by Cicero in his book, De Oratore, in 55 BC to describe an ideal speaker. It translates literally to “instruct or teach.”  And DOCTOR has as its Latin derivative the word Doceo, which means “to teach.” And the word TEACH is defined as to give information about or instruction in a subject or skill.

Hopefully at this point, you are getting the message that the theme of this year’s 148th SCDA annual session is centered on having ideal speakers to give us the additional knowledge we need to go forward after the meeting and TEACH; teach our staff, our patients, the general public, and even our colleagues.

We hope you will join us at the Charleston Marriott at 170 Lockwood Blvd in the number one vacation spot in the world, Charleston, SC, April 27 – 30, 2017. This year, we are also combining forces with MUSC and having the MUSC Alumni Weekend as part of this awesome annual meeting. There will be many lectures and activities for your entire family and team. From Mayor Joe Riley and Marcus Lattimore to Dr. Gordon Christensen and wine tasting: from the grand reopening of the Macaulay Dental Museum to tours of MUSC Dental School and class reunions – this will be a weekend event you will not want to miss.

Dr. Richard Boyd and team have done a phenomenal job arranging for some of the best speakers in the country to teach us about Sugar, WOW, sleep apnea, PANDA, dental hygiene, digital radiology, dental marketing, CPR, OSHA, oral pathology, pre-natal and peri-natal care, caries risk assessment, risk management, retirement planning, interceptive orthodontics – the list goes on and on.

So, go ahead and mark the dates and location on your calendars right now – 148th SCDA Annual Session/MUSC Alumni Weekend, Charleston Marriott, April 27 – 30, 2017. Plan on your entire family and dental team attending as well. This is going to be amazing, fun-filled time for you all. To learn – and then to teach!
